Cirebon, East Java (Antara Bali) - A car was struck by a train at a railway crossing in Gemulung village in the sub-district of Astana Japura, Cirebon, West Java on Saturday, killing the car's driver.
The driver died on the scene after his car was dragged for about two kilometers by the Bogowonto economy train heading towards Jakarta.
The Grand Max car was traveling from Gemulung to the city. Witnesses said the driver seemed not to have seen a railway crossing in front of him and a train was coming towards him.
No worker guarded the railway crossing, and it was not closed as the train approached.
The police said they received a report about the incident at about 1pm. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.(*/DWA/IGT)
