BPK To Announce Audi Results Of Freeport

Surabaya (Antara Bali) - The State Audit Board (BPK) will announce the results of its auditing on Freeport, Newmont and PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) early next year, a BPK member said.

"We are now conducting auditing works on the three companies and the results of which, we hope, would be submitted to the House of Represenatives (DPR) early next year," BPK member Ali Masykur Moesa said here on Sunday.

Speaking to a seminar on environmental pollution, Ali who is also chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Assocation (ISNU), said that the auditing covered three things popularly known as CCG, or clear, clean and green.

"Clear means obligation to the state has been paid, clean means licensing procedures have been obeyed and green means no excessive exploitations, that cause damage to the environment, have been done," he said.

In 2011, the BPK randomly audited 60 small mining companies which obtained licenses (KP) from the regional governments and 12 large mining corporations which were given licenses by the central government through coal mining exploitation work agreements (PKP2B).

"The auditing was able to save money amounting to Rp488 billion  these companies owing to the state. Here, there are over 10,600 mining companies so that the amount of state money the companies still owed to the government must be very big," he said.

He said that in order to prevent the state from losses due to guilt companies, the KP and PKP2B holders should pass the CCG requirement and if they did not meet the requirements the companies concern must pay penalties.

"The CCG requirement is important because otherwise, Indonesia will be hit by natural disasters. After all, at present, a total of 88 oil and gas firms in Indonesia belong to foreigners and 51 percent of oil palm plantation companies are also owned by foreigners," Ali stressed.(*/T007)
