Bali's Tuna Export Down

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The tuna exports of the Indonesian tourist resort province of Bali are now declining due to less favorable world economic conditions and less friendly conditions of the country's sea to fishermen, a trade official said.

"The value of the tuna exports has declined to 6.6 percent in the January - August 2011 period," Head of Bali's Trade and Industry Service Putu Baginda said.

In the first eight months of 2011, the values of Bali's tuna exports were recorded at 58.8 million, down from 63 million dollars in the same period in 2010.

In the January - August 2011, the value of Bali's total fishery exports only accounted for 70.8 million dollars, down from the same period a year earlier which was 76.6 million dollars.*
