Bali's exports up in value

Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - Bali earned US$94.96 million from exports in the first two months of this year , up 12.67 percent from US$84.28 million in the same period last year.

The trend, however, was declining in the two months.  In February, Bali's exports were valued at US$45.26 million down 8.93 percent from US$49.70 million in January this year, but year-on-year, exports in February rose 0.25 percent US$45.15 million in February last year, head of the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Adi Nugroho said here on Thursday.

Five main export commodities from Bali are fish and shrimp, non-knitted garments, jewelry, timber and timber products  and furniture.

Bali's main export destinations are the United States, Japan, China, Singapore  and Australia.

The declining trend in the first two months of this year was caused mainly sharp fall of 19.32 percent in exports to the United States. Declines were also recorded in exports to Australia and China. (WDY)
