Most of them arrived in Bali at Ngurah Rai airport straight from their countries and the remaining 756 came to the island paradise by yachts, head of the Bali central bureau of statistics (BPS) Gede Suarsa said here Wednesday.
He said Bali this year projected the number of foreign tourists at 2.6 to 2.8 million while last year's projection reached 2.57 million.
Of the ten countries, eight were the biggest contributors of foreign tourists to Bali, with eight of them with a big increase, but two with a decline in the number of tourists.
The eight countries whose people have become increasingly interested in going to Bali include Australia with 58,770, a 32.33 percent increase compared to the 44,412 in the same month of the previous year.
Australia is on top of the list among the 10 countries with the highest contribution of tourists reaching 28.11 percent of the total of 209,093.
China was second with 17,102, a 7,81 percent increase from the only 15,849 in last year's same period, with a contribution of 8.18 percent.
Russians going to Bali reached 11,499 people, an increase of 28.09 percent from the same month a year earlier, reaching 8,658, South Korea 10,439, up by 1.82 percent from the same month of the year earlier reaching 10,242.
The number of Malaysians increased 39.95 percent from 7,336 to 10,267, Singapore up by 121.43 percent from 3,113 to 6,893, Americans 28.57 percent from 4,504 to 5,791.(*)
