At the meeting, he was accompanied by Brunei embassy's staffer Helena Mahathir.
The courtesy call was his second visit to the resort island after his presence at the Bali Democracy Forum held in 2009.
Ambassador Mahmud said he talked about Brunei's interest in investment opportunities in Bali with Governor Mangku Pastika.
He said he was happy to be in the Indonesian resort island due to its people's hospitality, cultural richness and uniqueness, beautiful scenery, and excellent tourist sites.
The Indonesian apparatuses' efforts to secure all tourist facilities were also quite convincing, he said.
Governor Made Mangku Pastika expressed his administration and Balinese people's gratitude and appreciation to Ambassador Mahmud's visit.
"This courtesy call shows the harmonious ties between Indonesia, especially Bali, and Brunei," he said.
The two countries' cooperation was expected to get better and stronger in the future, he said.
Bali's tourism industry had targeted an increasing number of foreign tourists from 2.7 million people this year to five million people in 2015, Made Mangku Pastika said.
"In achieving this target, such facilities as new airport, new roads, and new hotels are needed," he said.
The Indonesian ministry of culture and tourism has targeted seven million foreign tourists entering Indonesia in 2010 with a total income of 6.75 billion US dollars, he said.
The ministry also expected to gain an income of 138 trillion rupiah from 230 million domestic travelers along this year.
Compared to last year, Indonesia could only receive 6.459 million foreign visitors. This number increased about 0.4 percent from that of 2008 despite the global crisis as well as hotel bombing and swine flu cases.(*)
