Bali Governor to Discuss Cooperation Programs with China

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Various cooperation programs between Bali and China will be discussed by Governor Made Mangku Pastika in Beijing, China.

Therefore, Governor Pastika who was accompanying Vice President Boediono on his visit to China has to extend his stay in the country for several more days to discuss the cooperation programs.

"Governor Pastika and a number of cabinet ministers accompanied the vice president in a four-day working visit to China from October 18-22, 2010 but he will return to Indonesia on October 25," Bali provincial administration spokesman I Ketut Teneng said here on Saturday.

He said relations between a number of Chinese provinces with Bali has been good so far and therefore Governor Pastika extended his China visit to explore more cooperation programs.

According to Ketut Teneng, pioneering effort for Bali to cooperate with Chinese government in various program was facilitated by Indonesian ambassador to that country.

He added that the governor had to extend his China visit to finalize the Chinese government's plan to help realize Bali Green Province.

Before leaving for China, Governor Pastika also said the Chinese government would also try to raise international funds to help realize a Clean and Green Bali in accordance with both local and foreign tourists expectation.

Even President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono himself also supported various elements' commitment to realize Bali Green and Clean Province.

In addition, supports to make Bali clean, healthy, beautiful, and green also come from various parties including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) regional director in Bangkok, Thailand.(*)
