The President wanted to listen to the result of study to shorten the dwelling time, including at Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Indroyono Soesilo said following a limited cabinet meeting in the Presidential Palace compounds here on Wednesday.
"The study was conducted at Tanjung Priok port, among others. The study particularly recommended that maximum efforts be made to shorten the dwelling time, which is one of the lowest in ASEAN," he said.
The dwelling time at the Indonesian ports averaged 7-9 days compared with less than one day at the Singapore port, he said.
Therefore, he added the President wanted to shorten the dwelling time to at least 3-4 days by setting up a task force.
"We, along with the Ombudsman and Pelindo (state port operator) have been assigned to work closely and report the result of our work in three months' time," he said. He said he would lead the task force which is expected to resolve administrative problems in the field as soon as possible. (WDY)
