Gianyar (Antara Bali) - Semara Ratih gamelan group of  Ubud sub district, Gianyar regency, will perform in three countries, namely the Netherlands, Belgium and Turkey in the Gamelan International Festival ending on September 25, 2010.

"We and 25 members of the group will perform in the international festival," group leader Anak Agung Anom Putera said in an audience with Gianyar Regent Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati at is office on Thursday.

He said Semarah Ratih Gamelan group will perform in Holland on  September 10, Belgium on September 11, and Turkey on September 23.

According to Gung Anom, as he is addressed to more intimately, the group will perform in a new innovation of the  Balinese gamelan.

"We interpret modern music into traditional music of Balinese gamelan," he said.

For patenting the collaboration of modern and traditional music, Gung Anom said his side used two composers, namely  Evan Syvoren from the USA, and Ketut Cater from Bali.

He said performing the  Semara Ratih group is a pride. Furthermore, being able to perform in the International festival Gamelan in Netherlands according to him was quite a surprise. "The festival was held coinciding with 100th anniversary of Tropen Theater, which is a  a pride because that celebration is a historic event," he said.

Gianyar Regent Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati said he was  proud with the Semara Ratih achievement. "That achievement continues to establish Gianyar regency a city of art," he said.

The governor of  Agung Ubud castle hoped the group will be  able to promote tourism especially in Gianyar regency and Bali province. "We hoped by appearing in Semara Ratih group in the three countries we could promote  tourism in Gianyar regency," he said.

He also admitted that Semara Ratih will perform maximally and create a good name of Bali province. "The performance is a part of appraisal, we hoped Semara Ratih will provide its  best for Gianyar regency," he said.(*)
