Denpasar (Antara Bali) - A total of 2.97 million foreign tourists visited the Indonesian island resort of Bali between January and November 2013, thus surpassing the target of 2.8 million, according to local bureau of statistics spokesman Amirudin.
"In December alone around 300 thousand foreign tourists were recorded to have visited the paradise island, making the number surpass the total target of 2.8 million in 2013," Amirudin stated here on Friday.
According to him, the number of foreign tourists visiting Bali during 11 months from January to November 2013 rose sharply to 11.50 percent from 2.67 million during the same period in the previous year.
"Only around 30,657 foreign tourists visited Bali by cruise ship, while most arrived by flight directly from their respective countries to Ngurah Rai airport," Amirudin noted.
He added that the number of tourists from Australia was still the highest, compared to that from other ASEAN, American, and European countries. (*/DWA)
