Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry invited three Latin American journalists to learn about the politics, culture and economy of Indonesia.

"The three journalists are participating in the Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) in order to increase mutual understanding between Asia and Latin America," said Director for American and European Inter-Regional Cooperation of Foreign Affairs Ministry Kusumaastuti here on Saturday.

According to Kusumaastuti, the journalists are Daniela Gonzalez of Chile, Walter Enrique of Costa Rica, and David Hektor from Venezuela.

The Foreign Ministry said the journalists will visit Bandung city to observe local media and the Asia-Africa Conference Museum to learn about the role Indonesia has played in supporting the independence of other nations.

The journalists will also visit Yogyakarta city for discussions with local government officials.

Additionally, the journalists will tour the disaster recovery site in Bantul district, which received aid and assistance from a number of Latin American countries.

"The main objective of the program is to strengthen mutual understanding in the field of politics, culture and economy through people to people contacts among the two regions, which is separated by a far distance, " Dewi said. (M038)
