Jakarta (Antara Bali) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale jolted northwest of Palu, Central Sulawesi province on Sunday at 08:46 am Western Indonesia Time.

According to Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 0.54 degree of Southern Latitude and 119.83 degree of Eastern Longitude or 39km northwest of Palu, Central Sulawesi at the depth of 10km.

The earthquake has no tsunami potential. Previously on the same day, another earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale also jolted the Sulawesi region at 08:04 am Western Indonesian Time.

BMKG reported the epicenter of the magnitude 5.1 earthquake was at 0.54 degree of Southern Latitude  and 119.83 degree of Western Longitude or 125km northeast of Donggala, Central Sulawesi; 194km northwest of Palu, Central Sulawesi; or 1,556km northeast of Jakarta, at the depth 10km. (*/DWA)
