Chinese Tourists Remain Third Biggest in Bali

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Chinese holiday makers remain the third biggest visitors in the Indonesian resort island of Bali after those of Australia and Japan, an official said.

In January 2010, the total number of Chinese tourists visiting Bali reached 15,849, a 31.44 percent decline compared to the same period last year, the head of Bali's bureau of statistics, Ida Komang Wisnu, said here Sunday.

In January 2009, 23,117 Chinese tourists spent their holiday in Bali, he said.

The tourists of mainland China directly flew to Bali. None came here by cruise ships, Wisnu said.

Last year, 206,151 Chinese tourists visited the resort island or an increase of 56.98 percent compared to 131,319 the year before.

Bali has so far had 766 Mandarin-speaking guides who are ready to accompany the coming Chinese tourists who want to enjoy the cultural uniqueness and natural beauty of the resort island.
