Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali, as a world tourism destination, has great potential to develop creative industry by producing various kinds of souvenirs having artistic values.
A Balinese art maestro, I Nyoman Gunarsa, who is also the owner and manager of Museum of Classical Art in Klungkung, Bali, said here on Saturday that Balinese works of art, that have been known worldwide, need supports from the government.
Local artists producing paintings, sculptures and wood curving which have been able to penetrate foreign markets, need encouragement and serious attention from the government.
He said the Balinese culture and arts will remain stable and developing in the global competition, and finally will contribute to the improvement of the local people's welfare.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector of the Indonesian Arts Institute (ISI) Denpasar I Ketut Murdana expressed his appreciation to the provincial and local government in Bali for paying serious attention to the development of creative industries particularly those concerning arts.
It is important to realize the vision of the Indonesia creative economy in 2025, namely "The Indonesian nation having quality life and creative image in the eyes of the world". (*/DWA)
