Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Floods affected seven areas in the Bali provincial capital of Denpasar following heavy rains from 03.00 to 09.00 a.m. on Friday.

The water level in the flood-hit areas, including Tangkuban Perahu, Tanjung Sari,  Mahendradatta, Gunung Salak, Tegal Buah Permai, Gunung Talang and Teuku Umar Barat reached 0.5-1.5 meters deep, Head of the Bali Provincial Operation Control Center I Gde Made Jaya Serataberana said here on Friday.

The flood hit the hardest Mahendradatta Street where the water level reached up to 1.5 m, causing a number of cars to have engine trouble.

Residents living along Gunung Salak and Gunung Talang Streets were evacuated to higher ground using rubber boats as flood water inundated their homes. No injuries or fatalities were reported.  

A flood also affected Badung district on Friday after a dike in Banjar Dukuh area was broken down.(IGT)
