Jayapura (Antara Bali) - Police Chief of Mimika regency, Papua, Sir. Comr. Danny Siregar stated that officers have investigated five witnesses allegedly related to the Indonesia Freeport Office Company (PTFI) attack in Kuala Kencana, Timika, on last Friday (September 29).
"The police is still involved in attempts to legally proceed in the investigation of the destruction and burning of the PTFI office, to identify five witnesses and investigate the crime scene," said Sir. Comr. Danny during his visit to Papua on Tuesday.
Sir. Comr. Danny added that although the police have not stipulated the perpetrators who destroyed and burned the office, they will be charged under article 406 of the criminal code of property destruction.
"The police officers have recorded the incident by using CCTV on last Friday (September 21) and the perpetrators have been identified," he said further.
A mob of around three hundred people destroyed some facilities in the office.
Based on data collected by Antara, the incident started during a meeting between relatives of the recently deceased Papua affairs manager for Freeport, David Beanal and the company's management in Harapan Kita hospital on September 19.(IGT)
