"I deeply deplore the closure of the toll road because it is detrimental to many of its street users," said Agung during his Ramadan safari to Bekasi and Cirebon in West Java on Saturday.
The Jakarta-Cikampek toll road was temporarily closed on Friday after a container truck owned by the state toll road operator PT Jasa Marga (JSMR) was set on fire.
An unruly mob of people set the truck on fire early Friday morning when some Jasa Marga officers wanted to close "a shadow bus station" located seven kilometers away from the former Pondokgede Utama toll gate.
The incident caused a ten-kilometer long traffic jam along the toll road.
Agung remarked that the toll road closure and the shutdown of other public facilities have had an extensive impact on the people residing near the road.(IGT)
