Timika (Antara Bali) - The Tillemans Catholic Education and School Foundation in Timika, Papua, said it still needs more teachers for assignment under contract in interior and coastal areas of the regency of Mimika.
Foundation chairman Paul Weti di Timika said since 2006, the foundation has cooperated with the Amungme and Kamoro Community Development Institution (LPMAK) to finance the pays of 50 contract teachers of 27 elementary schools in Mimika.
"Additional teachers are still needed although the number of teachers in the list is more than enough," Paul said here on Wednesday.
However, many of the teachers especially those from state schools with the status of civil servants failed to meet their contracts, he added.
The number of teachers attending the schools everyday did not reflect the real number of active teachers as assigned by the Mimika district education and culture office, he said.(IGT/T007)
