Ambon (Antara Bali) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit Tual city and Southeast Maluku district here on Thursday at 2.39 pm Eastern Indonesian Standard Time (WIT).

According to data from Ambon's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the moderate quake was centred at 6.12 south longitude and 132.13 east latitude, 77 kilometres southwest of Tual city.

The quake was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami.(IGT)
