Mataram (Antara Bali) - "Bulan Purnama" (Full Moon), a Buginese cargo sailboat, locally called pinisi, with six passengers on board, sailing from Serangan Island to Nusa Lembongan, Bali, had been reported still lost Sunday at 11 pm local time in very rough and bad weather.

A Mataram Search and Rescue (SAR) public relations staff member  Budi Cakranegara said in Mataram Monday a report on a missing pinisi came from the Denpasar SAR personnel, who also coordinated a search.

He said the pinisi was sailing on Sunday afternoon from  Serangan Island to Nusa Lembongan in Bali, and lost contact later in the night.

The Denpasar SAR reported that the sailboat owned by Jerry and skippered by Juned developed engine trouble in the middle of the sea when the weather was very bad.

"According to the report that we have received, the vessel had a gearbox trouble at coordinates 09.04.282 degrees southern latitude and 115.22.469 degrees northern longitude," he said.

Budi also said that the Denpasar SAR team had sent a report to the  Mataram SAR team for suspicion as the boat has entered Lombok Island waters according to the direction of the wind.

The Mataram SAR team has also coordinated with the Sea and Coast Security Unit (KPLP) of Lembar Port, West Lombok Island, to monitor the Lombok Island waters.(*/T007)
