Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Vice President Boediono has  denied a rumor that he intends to resign from his present position.

"I see a big question mark on your forehead, and I am not stepping down from the vice presidential post," Boediono told the press at his office here on Friday.

The rumor was denied by the vice president a moment before receiving United Development Party (PPP) central executive board (DPP) chief Suryadharma Ali.

Meanwhile, a PPP central executive board associate chairman, Lukman Hakim Syaefuddin,  said there was no need to believe the rumor.

"There is also no need to assess this  rumor, it's only a rumor. The  vice president's integrity is beyond question," said Lukman, who is also vice chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).

PPP General Secretary M Romahurmuziy  said it was too naive for  senior state officials to resign on the basis of dubious allegations.(IGT)
