Sukabumi (Antara Bali) - A landslide triggered by heavy rains killed a child at Walangsari village in Sukabumi district, West Java, on Thursday afternoon.

"The victim was identified as Akbar, 2,  the son of Riza Fahrudin, 46, whose house was damaged by a hill that collapsed behind the house following heavy rains," Commander of the Sukabumi distict command Lt. Col. Endro Satoto said.

Thursday's landslide was the latest in a series of natural disasters that struck several parts of Indonesia during the rainy season.

Last December, at least 11 people were buried alive in flash floods and landslides in Sitieng subdistrict, Kejajar district, Wonosobo, Central Java.(IGT)
