"He will deliver a policy speech to the people in the near future," Ryaas Rasyid, a member of the Presidential Advisory Council for administrative affairs and bureaucratic reforms, said after attending a plenary cabinet meeting at the presidential office here on Wednesday.
One of the meeting's agendas was listening to the council's proposal to improve the government's performance.
Ryaas did not mention when exactly the President would deliver the speech. "Before (October) 20," he said without elaborating.
He said the council had given a lot of inputs to the President.
However, he added that the council did not give the head of state inputs on an imminent cabinet reshuffle. It only studied profoundly a number of issues on the government's performance in several fields.
"There are several issues in the economic field that need to be reviewed, including balanced development of the eastern and western parts of the country," he said.
The council also proposed that relations between the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) be made in such a good way that deliberations on a number of bills would not come to a standstill.
He said President Yudhoyono also had expressed concern about a number of economic problems, including high unemployment rate and unevenly development.(*)
