Denpasar (Antaranews Bali)- Chief of Staff of the General Affairs of the Indonesian Defense Forces (Kasum TNI) Vice Admiral Didit Herdiawan Ashaf has stated there will be no excessive security measures during the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Bali, Oct 8-13, 2018.
He made the statement after leading a roll call ceremony on security measures for the world`s largest financial meeting, here, Sunday morning.
Every person entering the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, the main venue of the IMF-WB Annual Meetings, however, will be searched thoroughly by military and policy security officers.
The security measures will prioritize quick response, close monitoring and coordination among security officers.
"I remind the officers to respond swiftly when there is a problem in the field, and prioritize coordination," he said.
The coordination between the National Police (Polri) and the TNI has been good so far.
"The TNI and Polri synergy, which is a key in securing the event, is excellent as it focuses on securing the venues and surrounding areas," he said.
Some 15 thousand officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force will be involved in the security measures during the IMF-WB Annual Meetings. Tens of helicopters, warships and jets will also be deployed.
Meanwhile, the number of people registering to participate in the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are much larger than expected.
The number of would be participants already registered already reached 32,000 exceeding the government`s expectation of 19,000, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said .
"The number of participants to attend the meeting are 32,000 larger than expectation," Luhut said on Thursday after heading the final preparatory meeting on IMF-WB annual meeting in Nusa Dua in Bali.
He said 12,031 persons registered online with the IMF-WB "Meeting Team Secretariat" (MTS) and 19,404 via the "Indonesia Planning Team" under the National Committee.
The number are expected to rise close to 32,000 persons based on the trend until 4 October 2018 and guests from the private sector, he said.
"The fantastic number, would make the 8-14 October, 2018 meeting the largest annual meeting ever of IMF-WB," Luhut Pandjaitan said. (WDY)
