Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has encouraged the local administrations to do a promotional tour in the Bali province, considering the island is a tourist magnet.

"The promotion should be done amidst a crowd of tourists in Bali," the minister said in Nusa Dua, Bali on Thursday.

According to him, compared with promoting tourism abroad, a promotion in Bali is considered more effective and efficient because the island is the tourism hub of the country.

"A billboard in Bali will be seen by at least four million foreign tourists," he said, adding that Bali is visited by about eight million domestic tourists per year.

Arief noted that a promotion overseas will cost at least US$10 million and the cost of a commercial advertising on television could reach US$50 million.

He said one medium that can be used to promote tourism on the island is Bali Beyond and Travel Fair (BBTF).
