London, UK (Antara Bali) - An Indonesian filmmaker's movie "05:55" won in one of the categories at the Global Short Film Awards in New York, the United States, noted a press statement from the Indonesian Consulate General in New York.

The short film, created by the Yogyakarta Independent Film Community named Montage, won in the Best Cinematography category.
The film by Tiara Kristiningtyas and Mohammad Azri sheds light on the moments before the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake destroyed most of the buildings in the province and claimed more than five thousand lives.
The 6.4-magnitude Yogyakarta quake, also known as the Bantul earthquake, occurred on May 27, causing the deaths of more than 5.7 thousand people and injuring 37 thousand others.
This film has won awards at various film festivals in Indonesia. At the Global Short Film Awards, the film was played in black and white format and without any dialogues.
However, a variety of shooting angles were able to capture the true essence of everyday existence of the people of Yogyakarta, whose lives were devastated due to the earthquake.
This short film has beaten other finalists from 56 countries in the cinematography category.
The Global Short Film Awards 2016, held at Bow Tie Cinemas Chelsea - 260 West 23rd Street, New York, was witnessed by local film lovers who gave positive feedback and lauded the performances.
The winners in all categories at the New York Global Short Film Awards 2016 will be invited to the Cannes Film Festival 2016 to be held on May 21 in Cannes, France.(WDY)
