Jakarta (Antara Bali)- The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, condemned the bombings and gun attacks in Jakarta on Thursday and extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
He expressed his solidarity with the Government and people of Indonesia, the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) Jakarta said in a statement posted on its official website, Friday.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed that there is absolutely no justification for such acts of terrorism.
He hoped the perpetrators of today's attacks will be swiftly brought to justice.
The attacks at the main business center in Jakarta, left seven people dead, including a Canadian man and five of the attackers.
In the meantime, the Guardian wrote that the ISIS-linked Aamaq news agency had said earlier on its Telegram channel that the group had carried out the attack targeting "foreigners and the security forces tasked with protecting them in the Indonesian capital".
The ISIS claim, posted to Twitter accounts, said "soldiers of the caliphate in Indonesia" had carried out the attack, the Guardian reported. (WDY)
