Denpasar (Antara) -  Bali exported US$25.55 million worth of fresh and frozen  tuna fish in the first four months of the year or an increase of 10.17 percent  from US$23.19 million in the same period last year.

Data at the provincial industry and trade office of Bali showed that the tuna export value contributed 15.71 percent to the province's total export earning  of US$162.7 million in the same period.

Bali exported 4,552 tons of fresh and frozen tuna fish  or 24 percent of Bali's total export volume  in the January-April period of this year.

The export volume of tuna fish shrank 24 percent  from 5,996 tons in the same period last year.

Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Bali Panasunan Siregar  said fish and shrimp are among Bali's main export commodities.

Other export commodities of Bali are non knitted garments, gold ornament, timber products  and furniture.

The main export destination countries are Japan, the United States and Singapore. (WDY)
