Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) has asked industry doing business on Meeting, Incentives, Conference and Exhibition (MICE) to improve its services and human resources prior to the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
Director of Kemenpar's MICE and Special Interest Promotion Affairs Rizki Handayani said here on Thursday the MICE industry has been improving from year to year in terms of, among others, quantity, quality and organizing firms.
"The MICE industry in the country is expected to increase quality and its human resources. This is very important to face the AEC," Rizki Handayani said.
She made the statement when opening "The Third Indonesia MICE Forum 2015" under the theme: "Understanding The MICE Industry: The Most Powerful Business to Generate Economic Growth" at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
The forum serves as a meeting place in the form of a seminar for Indonesian MICE businessmen. It invites expert speakers from overseas such Singapore, Britain, Hong Kong, the Philippines and China.
The activities were held in the face of human resources competition in the AEC era. It is expected to increase knowledge about MICE as one of the sectors which could support the national economy.
Rizki expressed hope that the annual activity would improve the quality of MICE industry, particularly in the regions. (WDY)
