A terror suspect identified by his name Sabar Subagyo alias Daeng Koro was shot dead in Sakina Jaya, Pairig Moutong, on Friday, spokesman of the Central Sulawesi Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Hari Suprapto said here, Sunday.

Daeng Koro was former military officer and believed to be second in command of a radical group operating in Central Sulawesi.

Another suspect is Imam alias Farid who was killed in a coffee plantation, some 40 km of Palu City, in the same district, on Saturday evening. Imam alias Farid is a brother-in-law of Arif susanto alias Ibnu Sugi who was arrested in 2014.

He joined a combat exercise organized by Santoso, leader of a  terrorist group in Poso District in 2013. He was accused of shooting Amir alias Papa Cama, in Tamanjeka village, Poso, in the same year. Police officers who killed Imam, claimed that they found home-made bombs in his body.

The government had transformed parts of Poso into a battlefield as some 3.2 thousand Indonesian military officers of the Swift Reaction Strike Unit (PPRC) participated in a massive military exercise against terrorists, being held for two weeks, since March 31, 2015.

As many as 20 wanted terrorists are believed to be hiding in the forests of Poso. They keep moving from one forest hill to another, covering an area of around 40 square kilometers. (WDY)
