Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The locally made car "Esemka" is an ideal mode of transportation for the farmers and can also be used in rural areas, Minister of Industry Saleh Husin stated.
"We have discussed about a mode of transportation for the farmers, especially for rural areas. That is the reason why we are making the necessary preparations to manufacture the car ourselves," the minister noted after meeting President Joko Widodo here on Wednesday night, (Feb. 25).
He noted that the mode of transportation for plantation, mining, and rural communities will be manufactured in the country.
The government encourages the production of Esemka for the same reason.
"We will research in detail about the technical aspects and develop a road map for manufacturing a transportation platform for plantation, mining, and rural areas," Saleh remarked, adding that Esemka is a national car that is ready to be manufactured.
The government is optimistic about manufacturing this car, and the executive director of Esemka has made the necessary arrangements to commence its production, the minister added. (WDY)
