Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Chairman of the Supreme Court Agung Hatta Ali inducted and swore in four new chief justices here on Tuesday.

The four new chief justices are Dr H Amran Suadi SH MH MM, Sudrajat Dimyati SH MH, DR Purwosusilo SH MH and Is Sudaryono SH MH, chief of the Supreme Court's legal bureau and public relations service Ridwan Mansyur said on the sidelines of the swear9ing in ceremony.

"With the inauguration of the four new chief justices, the number of chief justices now reaches 51," he said.

He expressed gratitude to the Judicial Commission (KY) and the House of Representatives (DPR) which had endorsed the nomination of the four chief justices.

The inauguration of the new chief justices would have a positive impact on the settlement of cases at the Supreme Court, he said.

He expressed hope that the four new chief justices would start working soon as they were career judges.

"They are all career judges so they do not need to adjust to their new jobs. Hopefully, they could start working soon," he said.

Ridwan said the Supreme Court would propose another chief justice candidates next year to increase their number to 60.

"Some of chief justices have retired, including junior chief for development affairs Widayatno Sastrohardjono who entered retirement in July 2014," he said.

Chief justices Amran and Purwosusilo will be posted at the religion chamber of the  Supreme Court, while chief justice Dimyati at the civil chamber and chief justice  Sudaryono at the state administrative chamber. (WDY)
