Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Karachi promoted the 29th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) to be held in Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran by organizing a seminar in the KJRI office on Tuesday (September 9).
According to an official statement issued by the KJRI in Karachi, 30 participants attended this event including Shamoon Zaki from the Pakistan-Indonesia Business Forum and Anwar Aziz Jakartawala, the secretary general of the Pakistan-Indonesia Friendship Society.
This event is held with the objective of drawing Pakistani businessmen to participate in the annual event of the 29th TEI that will be held in Jakarta on October 8-12.
TEI is the biggest trading exhibition in Indonesia, and it will provide a great opportunity to hold a business- to-business (B2B) meeting, stated Junior Economic Consulate Reza Reflusmen during the seminar.
He also noted in his presentation that Indonesia is a viable market as its middle class society has a high purchasing power.
This event has received a positive response from the participants and the highlight of the event was the marked interest to foster business relationships in furniture, vehicle spare parts, soaps, and spices.
In 2013, the total bilateral trade between two countries stood at US$1.6 billion. Meanwhile, during the first semester of 2014, it reached US$1.096 billion.
With trading ties having progressed positively, the government is buoyant that the 29th TEI will be a success and will register an increase in the number of participants as compared to last year. The event is expected to draw nine thousand participants from across the world and generate total transactions worth US$1.82 billion. (WDY)
