Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The police force have prepared 22,000 personnel to ensure security and maintain law and order in and around the Constitutional Court (MK) during the presidential election lawsuit sessions.

"The presidential election process is still ongoing following a lawsuit by one of the presidential pairs. We have prepared a multi-tier system involving 22,000 personnel to ensure security at the MK," National Police Chief General Sutarman stated here on Monday.

The Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa ticket has filed a lawsuit with the MK following the General Elections Commissions (KPUs) decision to declare the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo as the winner of the presidential election on July 9, citing massive and systematic frauds in several regions.

Kivlan Zein, the general chairman of the volunteer coalition of Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair, has called on supporters of the pair to help supervise and monitor the proceedings at the MK, which will begin on August 6, 2014.

General Sutarman claimed that the security personnel will be deployed both inside and outside the MK building, including the access roads towards the compound.

He pointed out that the police will also provide security for the judges involved in the sessions.

"We will provide security to the judges and secure the location, so that the judges can give a ruling based on existing facts and principles of justice," Sutarman stated.

He explained that the police will secure every stage of the judicial process to ensure its smooth and orderly implementation.

Head of the National Polices Public Relations Division, Senior Commissioner Agus Rianto, earlier remarked that the police are ready to secure the area around the MK compound during the judicial process of the lawsuit settlement.

"The police are ready to handle the parties who wish to stage demonstrations and others who also need security such as the MK," Rianto noted.

He stated that the police will ensure security to the people using the roads around the MK compound.

"The officers from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters have been ready to ensure security at the MK. We will also coordinate with the MK with regard to every activity carried out at the MK to ensure that it will happen as per plan," Rianto added. (WDY)
