Papua (Antara Bali) - Indonesia has closed the boundary fence bordering Papua New Guinea in Skouw-Wutung area, making 24 Papua New Guinea citizens return to their country via the sea from Jayapura.
The Indonesian Military and Immigration Sub-official have closed the fence since Saturday (April 5) due to clash among the troops and unidentified armed groups.
The Chief of Jayapura Immigration Sub-official Gardu Tampubolon stated here, on Sunday, that out of the 24 PNG citizens, only two had passports, while 22 others were only using permit cards to cross the border.
The PNG Consular in Jayapura, Jack Aria, escorted the citizens up to the point where they entered the country's water territory, Gardu noted.
He added that the institution has withdrawn all immigration officers from the Skouw area and diverted the services to Hamadi Market, located in the sea shore of Jayapura, since sea transport is now being utilized.

People can reach Vanimo in PNG within two hours using land transportation from Jayapura, Indonesia. (M038)
