Jayapura (Antara Bali) - Two persons have gone missing in the aftermath of the flash floods that hit Wasior in the West Papua Province at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The two missing persons have been identified as Karen Nunaki and Charles Torey. Heavy rain had been reported in the area since Tuesday evening, which had led rivers in the Wasior region, such as Kabon, Api, Anggaris and Manggurai to overflow and trigger a two meter high water flow.
The Public Relations Chief of the Papua Regional Police Senior Commissioner Adjunct Pudjo pointed out that preliminary data had shown that at least 10 houses had collapsed in several villages, such as Wondiboi, Manopi, Tandia, Manggurai and Kabow, as well as in Wasior city. (INE/M038)
