Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - The national committee for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit has confirmed US President Barack Obama's attendance at the meeting.
"As of today, Wednesday (Oct 2), his participation at the meeting is confirmed," said Deputy Chairman of the APEC 2013 Summit National Committee Chairul Tanjung, after inspecting the Media Centre at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre (BNDCC), the venue of the summit.
He said the embassy, state secretary's office, and the US secret service have confirmed that the US President would be attending the meeting.
Tanjung, however, said the committee would be monitoring the schedule of the US President's arrival.
"We are waiting. We know they have an internal problem," he said. President Obama is scheduled to arrive on October 5 for the summit.
However, on Tuesday, the US government confirmed its shut-down after the US Congress failed to agree on a budget after a long debate between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. (DWA)
