Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed his gratitude to police officers for their dedication in securing holiday travelers.
"I thank police personnel for what they have done so far. And I also thank police officers who will carry out heavy tasks in securing home-bound travelers soon," the president said here on Thursday evening when attending a fast breaking diner (iftar) at the Police Headquarters.
The head of state also expressed his appreciation to police officers who will not be able to get together with their family members during Idul Fitri because they have to join "Operation Ketupat 2013" for 17 days to secure Muslim holiday of Idul Fitri which marks the end of Ramadhan, the Islamic fasting month.
Yudhoyono also urged the Indonesian people to help maintain peace and order. Given the fact that the number of police officers is very small compared to the country's population, the president said the tasks of the police force are very heavy, he said. (*/M038)
