Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Brazilian Ambassador to Indonesia Paulo Alberto da Siveira Saores has met with the deputy governor of Jakarta,  Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, to discuss sister city cooperation between Jakarta and Brasilia.

"According to the Brazilian envoy, the capital city of Brasilia and the Indonesian capital Jakarta are facing similar problems that must be overcome through a sister city cooperation," Basuki said at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday.

He pointed out that the problems being faced by both Jakarta and Brasilia were among others garbage, clean water, transportation, and slum areas.

"Because the two cities have similar problems, the Brazilian government wants us to establish a sister city cooperation for the development in Jakarta and Brasilia," Basuki noted.

He said the cooperation that would be followed up in the near future was related to garbage management.

"We plan to establish the cooperation soon to overcome garbage problem and to improve the quality of life of the residents in the two cities," he added. (*/DWA)
