Ambon (Antara Bali) - A Merpati Nusantara Airline Cassa plane made an emergency landing at the Amahi airstrip in Seram island, Maluku province, on Tuesday evening while on its flight to the provincial capital Ambon, a spokesman said.
Because of strong winds above Ambon island the plane carrying 14 passengers was forced to make an emergency landing at the airstrip, secretary of the Maluku provincial disaster mitigation board Kifly Wakanno said quoting one of the passengers as saying.
The plane left the Kisar airstrip in Maluku Barat Daya district on Tuesday at 03.30 p.m.
He said the plane also carried the body of secretary of the district health office Melky Laipenny.
Most of the passengers considered to continue their journey to Ambon by speedboat on Wednesday, he said. (*/DWA)
