Jakarta (Antara Bali) - At least 3,000 residents have been evacuated to safer places and emergency shelters due to flooding in various parts of Jakarta until 8 am on Wednesday, disaster mitigation officials said.
"The emergency tent which accommodates the biggest number of evacuees is located in the Rawa Buaya area, namely at KM 14 of Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta," Tasman of the Jakarta Natural Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), said here on Wednesday.
He said that his agency has set up at least 14 evacuation centers to provide emergency shelters for the flood victims.
"There are 3,456 evacuees being sent to emergency centers in various parts of Jakarta up the wee hours on Wednesday," Tasman said.
He said that of the flood victims, 1,370 were evacuated to the emergency shelters in Kampung Melayu (East Jakarta), 605 in Cililitan (East Jakarta), 200 in Kedoya Selata and 214 in Bidara Cina.(IGT)
