Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian government wants sustainable development to be included in the Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), after the current MDGs expire in 2015, said an Indonesian official.

Sustainable development should involve all the stakeholders, with emphasis on environmental preservation and economic growth with equity, Chairman of the Indonesian National Committee on the Post-2015 Development Agenda Kuntoro Mangkusubroto told the press, after the opening speech by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in  Regional Meeting and Stakeholder Consultation on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, here Thursday.

This way, the benefits of development will not just be enjoyed by a small group of people, he said.

"We should look into sustainable development after 2015. It is in line with the MDGs, decided by 147 member countries of the United Nations in 2000," he said.

The two-day meeting (December 13 and 14) was attended by 213 delegations from 19 countries (in the Asia-Pacific region).

"They shared several ideas with the president that can be included in the Post-2015 MDGs," Mangkusubroto said.(*/DWA/IGT)
