Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday morning presided over a ceremony to mark the Pancasila Sanctity Day near the Pancasila Sakti Monument at Lubang Buaya in East Jakarta.

In the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the head of state arrived at Lubang Buaya at 8 am and acted as inspector of the ceremony for about 20 minutes, while Colonel Danet Hendriyanto was the commander of the ceremony.

During the ceremony, the text of Pancasila was read out by People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Taufik Kiemas, while Regional Representative Council (DPD) Chairman Irman Gusman read out the 1945 Constitution preamble.

The ceremony was conducted under tight security provided by the police and military deployed around the Pancasila Sakti Monument area, including on the major routes to Lubang Buaya.

The Pancasila Sanctity Day is held every year to commemorate the revolt of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) on September 30, 1965. The revolt was marked, among other things, by the kidnapping of the seven army generals - General Ahmad Yani, Major General Sutoyo, Lieutenant General MT. Haryono, Major General D.E. Pandjaitan, and Lieutenant General S. Parman.(IGT/T007)
