Jakarta (Antara Bali) - PT Jasa Raharja, one of the largest Indonesian state-owned social insurance companies, is providing free trips for travellers, particularly motorcyclists, who want to return to their home villages to celebrate Lebaran with their family.
"Seventy five percent of the victims of traffic accidents during Lebaran holiday season are motorcyclists. Therefore, PT Jasa Raharja is giving them an opportunity to enjoy free travel," Transportation Minister EE Mangindaan said here on Monday.
The company is offering free trips to 38 cities across Java island and Lampung province in a bid to reduce traffic accidents involving motorcyclists.
The minister, during an event organized by PT Jasa Raharja, sent 13,000 motorcyclists homewards free of cost from Senayan's east parking area.
Mangindaan urged the bus drivers transporting the motorcyclists to follow traffic rules along the way and ensure safety and security for the passengers.
Meanwhile, Jasa Marga President Director Diding S Anwar said the company provided this year's Lebaran holiday travellers with 240 buses - 210 from Jakarta and 30 from Surabaya, East Java.(IGT)
