Surabaya (Antara Bali) - State-owned logistics agency Perum Bulog will allocate a seed capital of around Rp50 to Rp100 million (5-10 million US dollar) to establish Bulogmart as the one-stop-grocery store for staple foods.
Perum Bulog Executive Director Sutarto Alimoeso said that the fund will be used to build 100 units of Bulogmart in Indonesia. Additionally, Perum Bulog would place some of its officers to lead different units of the grocery stores.
"Bulogmart will operate as an outlet within our (Bulog) office warehouse. It will be used to store staple foods such as rice, cooking oil and sugar. In the future, we hope to distribute soybean from our flagship stores as well," he said here on Saturday.
With an initial target of 100 units set during the end of 2012, Perum Bulog has realized 10 units till now. Bulogmart will further be launched in 30 areas at the district/city level in the East Java Province.
"We haven't invested much for the Bulogmart format because we intend to utilize some of our former Bulog warehouses and office buildings for the grocery stores," he added.(IGT/T007)
