Jakarta (Antara Bali) - PT Pertamina plans to import crude oil and oil fuels directly from producers and not through traders any more as of the third quarter this year, Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan said.
She said in a press statement here on Tuesday the direct import mechanism would be carried out based on prudent principles.
"We must assure the move will not create risks such as import supply failures that could cause domestic energy crisis," she said.
She said she welcomed the government's support to the decision, adding indeed government-to-government talks are needed before deals are made.
Karen said Pertamina would also strive to seek maximal absorption of domestic crude production to meet oil refineries' needs.(IGT/T007)
