Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Former vice president Jusuf Kalla has hinted that he is prepared to  be a candidate in the 2014 presidential election, although he said it was too early to discuss his plans.

"We'll see the development, it's still a way to go," Kalla said after attending a launching of a book, entitled "Gilad Atzmon: Critical Note on Palestine and the Future of Zionism" written by Buya Syafii Maarif, at the Muhammadiyah Headquarters here Monday evening.

Kalla, currently chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), declined to comment further on his preparations for the presidential candidacy.

"The candidacy process has its own procedure. There is a system that has to be followed, namely through a political party, while I am not a party leader," Kalla, the former chairman of Golkar Party, said.

For sure, a party should nominate its candidate, not ourselves," he added.(*/R-M038/T007)
