Manado (Antara Bali) - Vice President Boediono is scheduled to open an ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) and travel exchange (TRAVEX) at the Gran Kawanua Convention Center (GKCC) here on Thursday.

Secretary of ATF's local committee Haefrey Sendoh said on Tuesday the forum would bring together 226 delegates from ASEAN member states and their dialog partners including India, Japan and South Korea.

The ASEAN tourism ministers and their dialog partners from India, Japan and South Korea  were expected to arrive here on Wednesday to attend the meeting the following day, he said.

Until Monday 178 of the 226 delegates had arrived in Manado for the forum, he said.

He said 925 sellers and 383 buyers were expected to take part in TRAVEX. "North Sulawesi province alone will send 12 sellers who will use six stands and six booths," he said.

The sellers would come from 10 ASEAN member states, and the buyers might come from both ASEAN member states and the rest of the world.

The North Sulawesi provincial government expected local sellers to be able to build communication with sellers and buyers from other countries and proactive in introducing their activities offered at the event, he said.(IGT)
