Nusa Dua (Antaranews Bali) - Police officers have begun to tighten security at the "Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation" (ITDC) area in Nusa Dua, Bali, ahead of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank from October 8-14, 2018.

Antara`s monitoring in Nusa Dua, Badung, Friday indicated that hundreds of joint military-Polri officers were scattered at a number of points starting from Jalan By Pass Nusa Dua to inside the ITDC area, where the grand meeting will take place.

At the gate both from the south and north toward the ITDC, police officers from the Sabhara unit and the Bali Police Mobile Brigade were assisted by local security guards, checking the visitors one by one, including for identity cards.

Brimob officers equipped with long-barreled weapons also guarded the gates of the luxury area.

Meanwhile, more rigorous checks and safeguards were carried out by police officers joining the Military Police, precisely at the gateway to the "Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center" building (BNDCC), the main building of the largest economic meeting.

Three days before the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank, ITDC also began to be beautified, one of which was the number of "penjor" or ornamental decorations on the Balinese bamboo, which was plugged around the elite area.

A number of location signs were also distributed at a number of points to make it easier for delegates to attend meetings.

Bali Regional Police deployed 5,823 personnel, including from the National Police Headquarters, to be deployed to secure the IMF and World Bank meetings.

The number of personnel consisted of 2,509 people, supported by 2,650 regional unit officers and 664 personnel from the National Police Headquarters.

The Udayana Regional Military Command also mobilized 5,050 soldiers to help secure land, sea and air. (WDY)
