Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - The aircraft carrying heads of state to attend the International Monetary Fund-World Bank annual meeting 2018 here from October 8-14 will have the priority to land and have a parking place at the I Gusti Nguran Hari International Airport.

"What is important is that the aircraft carrying heads of state will land and park in Bali," General Manager of Ngurah Rai airport Yanus Suprayogi said when attending a ritual purifying airport infrastructure in Tuban Kuta , in the district Badung on Friday.

Yanus said around 23 heads of state including 10 from southeast Asian countries are expected to attend an ASEAN leaders` meeting to be held on the sidelines of the week-long IMF-WB annual meeting starting Oct.8 , 2018.

Delegates from 189 countries will attend the IMF-WB annual meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali that some of the aircraft to have to land and park at nearby airports outside Bali.

A number of airports such as Juanda of Surabaya, Hasanuddin of Makassar, Adi Soemarmo of Solo and Banyuangi airport have been prepared for aircraft that could not be accommodated by Ngurah Rai airport.

The arrivals and departures of the aircraft of heads of state is to follow the standard procedure involving the Ngurah Rai Air Force base, Yanus said.

The Ngurah Rai airport will operate normally to serve commercial flights during the big meeting, he said.

He said the Ngurah Rai International airport has been ready to welcome the delegations to the IMF-WB meeting.

Supporting facilities including two new aprons have been fully completed in the western and eastern parts of the airport. The two new aprons are expected to be able to take around 10 wide bodied aircraft bringing the total number of parking stands to 63 at Ngurah Rai.

The IMF-WM annual meeting 2018 is expected to be attended by at least 17,000 participants including IMF and WB leaders, central bank leaders and finance ministers of the 189 countries, observers, and journalists.

Many of the delegates are also expected to bring their family members to Bali.  (WDY)
